Have you ever had one of those experiences where you had to be brutally honest with someone even though it was difficult but you knew it was for the best? Maybe it was with your kids, your spouse, or a co-worker? I have had one of those experiences. As I have lead Ignite Church for almost 5 years now, I looked around and realized something. Numerically and financially, Ignite is no longer sustainable. Attendance has continued to decrease over the last couple of years to where we no longer have the manpower to logistically continue to run. Financially, hiring a new Worship Leader would be difficult and still maintain paying our bills and other staff.

So it is with this, I am sad to tell you that Sunday, June 11th will be Ignite Church’s last church service. This is not an easy decision to make. I have met with my parent churches, seeking their wisdom and counsel as well as with some key leaders within Ignite Church. All of them agree that this is the best course of action.

There is no easy way to say all the things that run through my mind in a letter. That is why I HIGHLY encourage you to join us for the next 3 Sundays and hear the story of Ignite Church. You’ll hear about the lives that have been impacted by Ignite, the struggles we’ve faced, and what we can look ahead to in the future. We’ll end on June 11th with a celebration of all that God has accomplished within 5 years.

Life is a series of adventures. Some of the best adventures are short lived, yet they are the most impactful and most remembered. This adventure, for me has been the best of my life. I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I look forward to our remaining time together to share with you the unspeakable joy I still have in my God and Savior as well as the challenge that faces all of us.

I hope and pray to see you this Sunday as we talk about how this Adventure Continues…

In Him,
Pastor Nick Whittenhall
